  • Finally

    By kw85233
After decades of watching Doctor Who I can finally stop. Too many companions, stories are too political, and boring writing. Maybe someday it will improve and I will be back.
  • Unwatchable and it took me two months of on again off again to watch one episode

Unfortunately a let down from the heights of all previous doctors. The writing is sixth grade level and the failure of poor Jodie to garnish enthusiasm of the audience is painful to watch. Sink it and re-float it with another vessel to project an interesting tapestry like previous seasons.

  • 90% social commentary and 10% science

The all new show has altered the focus away from mechanical aptitude and towards past/current American social issues, this suggests the Show is going the way of Class. The scripts have Dr Who using her ‘sonic’ as a magic wand while fixing various American social Issues and muttering about. The scripts for the old male character have him plodding through scripts with the tech knowledge of a turnip. Please hire a writer with at least a basic Knowledge of college level engineering, Recent shows to date were written primarily for entertaining young juveniles With babysitter nonsense. —
  • Thirteen = Brilliant!! Writing = Ehh.

After years of people telling me I needed to try out Doctor Who, I finally decided to give it a go. Why? Because of this new series. I was intrigued to see if a show 50+ years running could successfully genderbend its main character while still keeping true to the heart of the character and the show itself. The Doctor has become an icon for geeks everywhere, and as a huge Star Wars, Tolkien, and general sci-fi/fantasy nerd, I have to appreciate that. Series 11 seemed like a great jumping-on join for a noob to get her start in the Whoniverse. I was absolutely right. I fell in love with Jodie Whittaker’s version of the Doctor almost immediately - her quirky mannerisms (and especially facial expressions) remind me somewhat of Martin Freeman’s Bilbo Baggins from The Hobbit films. She instantly captured everything I had always thought the Doctor was supposed to represent. The wisdom, compassion, strength, and age, all wrapped up in a bundle of energy and excitement over the wonders of the universe. I loved it all and couldn’t figure out why so many fanboys were hating. After finishing this series, I went back to series 1, with the introduction of the Ninth Doctor. I’ve been working my way through ever since. And now I’m beginning to understand why many were underwhelmed with series 11. Don’t get me wrong, I still absolutely love Thirteen. I’m still fond of Yaz, Ryan, and Graham. And there are many moments in this series that are downright awesome. But in comparison to past series, the writing is honestly pretty... ehhhh. Plots are fairly simple and predictable, and none of the characters really develop a ton. Besides, I think Jodie could achieve SO much more with the character if the writers and directors would give her half the chance. Let the Doctor finally get tired of having to stand by while the innocent are torn down, let her memories of past battles and loves and losses shine through for a few moments, let her new companions hear stories of those who came before. Let her somehow encounter a shadow from her past, whether it be an old companion, enemy, or location, and the true ancientness of the Doctor be glimpsed again. I don’t want to doubt that the writers will clue in for series 12. I really do believe that awesome things are coming. I just hope that the writers realize how and why this series isn’t all Doctor Who could be - not because of the actors, or the characters, and especially not because of the gender change. But because it’s capable of far more than it’s currently being given. Believe in your characters and fans, BBC. Don’t water it down for us — give us the epicness this show and the first female Doctor deserve.
  • The New Doctor Is Great, But...

    By Ubisububi
The writing was not up to the show’s usual standards for creativity and wonder. I think the new Doctor is great, though. It’s too bad they didn’t give her better material to work with in her first season.
  • New Years episode

How do I get the New Years episode? Can’t say how good it is until I see the last episode.
  • Best season by far

Man, the production values, writing, acting, plotting. It’s a quality reinvention of a great show. Some of the best sci-fi I’ve seen on TV in a long while. Absurdly good character work, delightful new ideas and worlds, and a great new Doctor to top it all off. I can’t wait to see where they take this next!
  • Doctor, I let you go

Just pretend the Doctor opted to not regenerate at the end of the Capaldi era. It’s better that way.
  • Such crap.

Final victim of BBC. This is the problem with a content producer not answerable to their customers.
