In the tradition of Amblin classics where fantastical events occur in the most unexpected places, Jack Black and two-time Academy Award® winner Cate Blanchett star in The House with a Clock in Its Walls. The magical adventure tells the spine-tingling tale of 10-year-old Lewis (Owen Vaccaro), who goes to live with his uncle in a creaky old house with a mysterious tick-tocking heart. But his new town's sleepy façade jolts to life with a secret world of warlocks and witches. Based on the beloved children's classic book.

  • Not the worst

After watching the preview, I figured this would be a good movie but I was incorrect. It's not worth the hype. The acting is forced and even cheesy at times. To each his own on that one. It’s not the best by a long stroke, but I’ve also seen worse!

This possibly is one of the best Jack Black movies I have seen.

This was a good movie but it scared my brothers so you should be brave and older to watch the movie

Is a good movie to watch with the kids.
  • Too Scary for Kids, Too Childish for Adults

It's an interesting film with a fun spooky vibe, but could have done without the silly slapstick scenes.
  • Harry Putter

Strangely flat and characterless, like a committee of Hollywood dullards tried to imitate Harry Potter, Goosebumps, etc. by pasting together all the less interesting parts. Rarely funny, never scary, yet sometimes weirdly gross. Even Cate Blanchett can't save it from the bad script, the clumsy directing, the terrible kid actor, and Jack Black doing his Jack Black schtick for the umpteen-millionth time. The only cool and imaginative thing about it is the sets.

Worst movie, and it got so weird at the end. Save your money, and turn on Netflix!

Watched this last night with my kids. I don’t know why this movie is getting so much hate- it was a fun, spooky and magical movie that held even my youngest child’s attention. I loved the book- and now the movie! Excellent!
  • Jack Black’s worst movie

    By Mr.PurpleGiraffe
It was promising for the first half, but then I guess they realized that the plot was going too slow and sped it up. The whole jumble of a movie hot so whimsical at the end that I honestly stopped caring. There was no tension up any plot twists. Everything just happened. The special effects were also subpar. Though it wasn’t predictable at some points, it was a bore. Jack Black tried to keep this sinking ship alive, but fails. 3/10
